hi everyone, abouth a month ago a gray spot apeared on my puffers skin, mi cams broke so i cant send pictures, mi puffer eats normally and swims normally and he has his belly white (ocasionally he has the stress line when i do a water change or something) anyway the lovely people on the puffer forum told that i should use melafix and so i did, it didnt work i also used Methylene blue didnt work also used the one that is green, nothing the spot hasnt gone its been a month my puffer seems ok but the spot botters me so what can it be could it be a burn?

What kind of puffer do you have?

tetraodon nigroviridis and he is in brackish .010

Has it grown or changed at all? Does it look fuzzy/raised up from the skin or does it look more like a scar?

It could be an old bite wound that healed up, they often look like round rings. It could also be a heater burn, or possibly even a natural color variation on his skin.

Its hard to say without pictures..

i have arround two months and a half with him every 3 days i change arround 30-40% of the water im raising tha salt level .002 every week to make make my tank full marine hes in a 10 gal alone hes about 2 and a half inches

its not a bite i have him alone, when i got him form the pet store he had a dark ring on his white side, a bite but it dissapeared, the gray spot kind of shines it looks like a scar, its not fuzzy or raised up, my buddy seem ok i recall eats and swims normally, but i dunno im a noobie with puffers

Kind of sounds like it might be a scar then, but we'll never know for sure without pics.

By the way, 10 gallons is by no means big enough for a 2.5" GSP, he needs a *minimum* 30 gallon tank. I have my 3.5" GSP in a 55 by herself, and it's barely enough room (and won't be, once she's full-grown).

Also, GSPs of that size should be kept at 1.010-15, not full marine.

I agree--stop tossing meds at it & let it be happy, with the scar.

i know abouth the tank size im moving him to a 30 gal and im planing to move him o full marine in abouh 6 months.
and abouth the scar when i bought my puffer the "scar" wasnt there it apeared abouth a month after

ok ill try its just i dont want him to die and even worst for my fault, ill borrow a cam from a friend to send you the pictures, but maybe youre right i should spot worring

Usually if its not fuzzy or a bump or a hole its just a scar or spot, he could have laid against his heater and got a burn. It happens.

A picture would be best, but as long as the puffer is eating well and looking happy otherwise, just focus on keeping the water very, very clean (lots of water changes) because dirty water will cause skin issues.
