My LFS let me know there was a puffer available referred to as "Mavus puffer", but alas I can't find any info on it. It was somewhere in the $80-100 range.
Anyone know what species this is?
Thanks
Aaron

What color was it.? Look on our Pufferpedia (under the Learn tab) for an ID. Not worth that much unless it's a red variant of Congo.

congo also known as Tetraodon "miurus". I heard least 2 LFS pronuced this as mavus thats why i think is a congo. Also the price range for a congo is around 80-100 for 3-4 inch. What city are you located at?

Take a few minutes to go over the species in the Pufferpedia before you go shopping.. a lot of times they label a puffer as something completely wrong just because they don't know any better.
That way you should be able to recognize it, or at the very least, have a better idea of what you are looking at so you can come back and get a positive ID and find out temperment/size/water conditions before buying.

I would never pay that much for a Congo. That price seems outrageous....unless it's red of course.
