fahaka crab question

dont know if this sounds stupid or not but im not sure.was wondering if u can feed a fahaka small crabs from the beach?or do they have to be freshwater crabs.ty

Personally I would not feed my fish anything from the beach, only because of disease. Of course my beach is the muddy part of "The Gulf of Mexico".

I would agree as far as getting food off of the beach...there is just a potential for bringing in bacteria and parasites. You can easily breed crayfish in captivity and get crabs from a lfs that are much safer for your puffer.

I wouldn't always say they're safe though. Still best to quarantine all live food for a while.

You could chuck them in the freezer for a few days to disinfect them.
