f8 growth on wounded tail

just bought 2 figure 8s and they both had bites out of the top of thier tail very close to thier body a few days later the tails where they were bitten started to turn white and developing a strange growth almost looks like coliflower. any ideas?

Sounds like fungus. Be sure to keep water quality pristene & treat with Melafix & Pimafix. Was the tank cycled before you added the puffers? Are they in brackish water?

ya the tanks been cycled for a while now and i have some salt in there now but not too much since i just got them last week and they were in fresh water at the place i got them

Do you have a hydrometer? I'd get the SG up to 1.002 with marine salt, ASAP.

ok just went and got some Melafix & Pimafix so hope that and the water changes help whatever they have
