Ad you know, my Baileyi was breathing heavy last night. Well, this morning I found him dead :(
I checked all the water params and they are all normal so I dont know what happened?
Ive only had him a couple of days so i cant see what it could possibly be?

Im not sure what to do now.. do i take him back to the shop? do I get another baileyi? do I think of something else to fill the gap in the tank?

i just rang the shop and he said normally he offers a full refund, but he said he wouldnt be happy to offer a full refund in this case because the fish has been alive in his shop and well for the past 8 months.

what would kill him so quickly?

Stress maybe.. or at some point in the past a medication was used in the tank that lingers (copper, etc).

So sorry Indie. :( I know you were so excited to get him. I think the shop should offer a refund anyway. Maybe it was something they did that caused him to get sick. For example: My cousin purchased a house and a 200 gallon tank with fish that the owner did not want to move. The nitrates were over 200. The first w/c she did she lost 1/2 the fish. The 2nd w/c she lost the rest. The guy told her he only did 1 w/c a year. He would just add water to the tank when it started to get low. I don't know if the shop keeps prestine water but it's a thought. Maybe your water was too clean and it put him in shock. After my cousins experience I always test the water in the bag before I start the drip. You can call me paranoid but you never know if someone keeps a clean shop.

I would guess most lfs do not have stable water parameters. The lfs I use the most admits they do not. Acclimating the fish should help in that situation.

Owh I'm sorry.
I would demand a refund, because you payed a good amount of money for him. Here if you bring water so they can test it and there are no nitrite you'll get a refund.

what are your exact perameters... take a sample to the shop and get them to test it fully...

you need to find out what happened before trying again..

It is unlikely to be the shop if the puffer was in there for 8 months.. must be something in your water he didn't like. If your tests come back perfect, i'd expect a refund...

if they come back bad, then you know how to sort it out before trying again. :-)

SORRY TO HEAR THAT INDIE!!!
Yes everyone is right.. take sample to the lFS have them check the water. I would also ask them to check their water in the tank that your bailey was in just in case. How do we know if that bailey was really in there for 8 months. After you got your bailey what did you feed him? and how much? Also ask the lfs what did they feed him and how often. My pass abei died after i got him less then a month. Cause of death was fat liver diease and i only feed him every other day with frozen blood worms.
