help, mbu not looking good

it's sitting on the floor with pectoral fins clasped to it's side and looking pretty pale. This has only happened recently as i got home, he was swimming round and feeding well this morning. Tank is 180g, temp is 26 celcius, ph7, nitrite 0, ammonia 0, nitrate 5ppm.

Whoah how big is he? That tank is not big enough for a full grown mbu.

I'm aware it s not big enough for an adult it is only about 5" and will be going into a 800g in 15 months

OK glad to hear it, just had to check there.
EDIT: Although I'm not sure how quick they grow.

He's swimming round now but only about half an inch from the bottom and it looks like its taking alot of effort to do so.

could there be in toxins in the water from the air? have you sprayed anything around there since you got home?

No, I'm wondering if it could be food poisoning they food looked and smelt fine but im not sure also the few polypterus also in the tank ate the food and they are fine.

what did you feed? could he have ingested something else as well?

Although the parameters look good, whenever your fish look "off", do a WC.

i did a big water change, he's perked up a little i'll see how he goes
