Advice on Breeding Snails?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, I just got my third Spotted (Green, whatever) puffer, named Freckles 
I'm trying to breed snails for her (he? it?) but I'm having a little bit of trouble getting them to reproduce.
I keep the snails (I have no idea what species they are, they're small and brown with a tapered shell) in a 5-gallon freshwater tank with four little zebra fish. When I first got the snails, they bred like crazy. I'm now on maybe the 3rd generation, and I haven't seen any eggs for this new group. They keep that tank spotless, so on the theory that they didn't have enough food I've started feeding them chopped bits of cucumber. They seem to be growing faster now, but still no eggs. Any ideas as to how I can get them to breed successfully long-term?
