hi im new, I got a n mbu today. I know they get huge but i AM going to upgrade from a 180 gallon tank within the next 15 months, i know alot of people plan to upgrade and never do it but i have respect for the animal and want it to be as happy as possible. The reason i can not upgrade sooner is a money issue but due to various factors i will in 15 months have enough to upgrade. I just wanted to know what i should feed it and how i can make it happy in the meantime.

How about a picture? How big is it? I feed my puffers clams, mussels, shrimp and crabs all from the local grocery store. Freeze first then defrost and feed.

Check out the feeding article in the library that will help you. There is also an article in the library about Mbu's that's really good and written by a member on the forum.

luckily we have a big garden so i will be building a shed/ fish house with just one big tank and i will have to shut down all my other tanks and sell them to pay for the initial build and also i cant afford the electricity of multiple tanks once ive built this monster lol.

i dont really have the space for my 2 babys but ive made it me an my partner share a double room they have one each!
spoilt little brats ey!
I would suggest upg to a larger tank before 15moths though in a 180 youll have issues once he gets over 7" the waste the produce is unreal. and overfiltration wont really touch it!
my baby whos about 3" now is in a 6x2 and has been for about 6 weeks she will be going into a 8x 4 within 2 motnhs and the big boy in a 12x4 tank with my big super violet arrow

well its not ideal. I wouldnt usually recomend on getting a Mbu unless you have the tank ready for a adult!
im fortunate to have a 10x4 8x4 + 6x2
there isnt really such a thing as over filtration with these monsters!
I wish you all the bst of luck though

Thanks, im probably going to be looking at doing around 15% water changes per day. He's eating squid, muscles and cockles.
