New Very small figure 8 in 10 gallon aquarium

I just discovered that I could get a small figure 8 puffer for free. either I take it or it dies, so I was wondering if a totally empty 10 gallon would be alright if I only had the puffer? I know it is small but nothing else is really in the budget. Would I be able to have a kuhli with it, just for garbage clean up? I currently have it set up for fresh water as I was going to get some dwarf puffers. How much salt is enough I was hoping to keep it only slightly brackish? What type of salt, Marine? Any advice would be appreciated. I have currently been cycling the tank now for 2 days and will continue to do so for at least a week or two just to be sure my water is alright. Thanks guys any advice would be great I have never had a brackish water aquarium before.

the SG only needs to be around 1.005-1.008 and needs to be marine salt. It needs 15 gals tbh it might be ok for a bit but you won't get anything else in there.

Also, make sure with whomever you are getting the F8 from what type of water they have him in. If he's in freshwater you don't want to just throw him in a brackish tank. You will need to drip acclimate him.

I have found that a little less than 1/2 cup of marine salt will raise 5 gallons 0.002 Specific Gravity. But, some salt brands are more "salty" than others so you should buy a hydrometer to measure it.
