Depressed SAP

Greetings All- One of my SAPs is smaller than the others, and has always been this way since he was purchased 2 weeks ago. My girlfriend affectionately called him skinny-mini and he would eat food along with the other puffers.

this evening i noticed him just sitting on the sand and not showing very much interest in food that was only a few inches from his face. i became concerned and removed him to a smaller tank. he lies in the tank for a minute or two, then gets up and swims around the whole tank a few times, rinse and repeat.

any advice?? No signs of ich or anyhting obvious. i am afraid he isn't getting enough food so i put some snails and defrsoted mysis shrimp. he does not appear to be eating it.

how do i know if his teeth are too large??

Thanks. -Matt

Does it look like he has Internal Parasites?
You could tell just by looking at him if his teeth are to large, if you can see the teeth, then they probably need trimming.

I do not think he has internal parasites. I JUST finshed treating the whole tank for suspected ick (followed puffer pedia library religously). no signs of ich or any other disease. i cannot see the teeth....

should i put a dose of pimafix in?

Why? Does he have a fungal infection? Get a flashlight to look close at his teeth.

Does he have a sunken belly? Usually a sign of internal parasites. Behaviour, and description of puffer, suggest that to me.

it does sound like internal parasites, you could try putting garlic in the food to make it more attractive as they do love the stuff.
i would treat him for internal parasites as your not to sure and dont want to leave it to long.
let us no how it goes.
