Torn Eye

I just looked at my figure 8 after getting home from work and one of his eyes has a torn piece of tissue hanging from it. The eye is also a bit clouded up on one side. I've also got 2 knight gobies in there. They look fine. The puffer is also still active. It's hard to say if it's some kind of infection or he banged up against something.

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
pH 8
SG 1.005
Water changes 50% each week.

Can you post a pic? It sounds like an injury to me. Melafix should help heal it up if it is an injury.

Yeah. I agree. You should put a dose of melafix in. It might be an issue with the knight gobies chasing the puff and the puf bolted and scratched its eye of decor...

I tried to take a picture but he won't stay still. After about 50 attempts I gave up. I bought some Melafix and put a dose in last night and the good news is that he looks so much better already. The eye is not as puffed up or cloudy as it was yesterday. Hopefully that will rule out some kind of bacterial infection.

I guess cos they have such googly eyes, all puffers are gonna be prone to injury.
Yeah...squeaky clean water and Melafix should do the job.
