hey guys, i recently bought a few bumblebee gobies for my brackish tanks, so far so good... they have been eating leftovers from the puffers, is there anything that i can specifically feed them? I heard they like daphnia, is that true?

Let me know how your bumblebee gobies do with your puffers. I have read on this forum that they mysteriously disappear.
I always wanted one as well. I used to keep mollies with my GSPs as tankmates, but the mollies have become bullies. I have fairly wimpy GSPs. I noticed yesterday my 1/2 inch molly was picking on my two 3/4 inch F8s. I have been researching BBGs as a suitable tankmate. Let me know how it goes!

I have read on several different sites that BBGs eat daphnia and bloodworms.

My bb gobies do OK with my F8. There's an occassional "harsh word" at feeding time, but never any damage. They do argue amongst themselves quite a lot. I've read that it's best to keep them in groups of more than two as a dominant fish will evolve and if he only has one tank mate to dominate that fish will suffer. I have four in my tank.

I've heard that they can be picky eaters who only take live food. My experience is that they’ll try anything that’s floating in the tank (ie moving). They do seem to lose interest once the food settles. They seem to particularly like frozen blood worm, but I’ve also fed them frozen daphnia and brine shrimp. They will also try to bite of bits of muscle that I put out for the F8

My bumblebees have lived happily with my f8 for about 7 months now!!

The only things my bumblees wont eat are frozen crustaceans and flake.

i have 4 gobies in my f8 tank and 2 in my gsp tank, they have funny little personalities. Im going to buy some daphnia today and see how that goes. What actually is daphnia?

They're small crustaceans that live in freshwater, in particular ponds. We call them water fleas in the UK, although they are not actually fleas at all (they do look similar though).

I have kept 3 bbg's with my 2 F8's for over a year now all has been good no probs whatsoever. I find mine love frozen bloodworms also. Another thing they will do is while the puffs are feeding they will hang out in the background and scoop up leftovers that fly by them.

I had zero luck in finding the daphnia, i did the bloodworms and its so funny watching the gobies eat them, some of the bloodworms are bigger than the gobies! I have one more store to check tomorrow for the daphnia, hopefully i will have some luck!

Do your BBGs get their share of food?

My puffers attack the food like sharks. They spend the remainder of the time looking for scraps on the substrate--maybe a habit they learned from the mollies?

I must have the worst luck in fishland. I put a few BBGs in with my Puffer, the tank was divided, one side Puffer the other side BBGs. The BBGs are very small and one got through a hole and ended up on the other side. I came home and found my Puffer munching 1/3 of a BBG. I took them all out and now they have their own tank. Imagine my horror.

eek, sorry about that, they are so cute, i hate losing any as well
