Yes another one.....Fahaka tankmates!!

While I know that it is unlikely that a medium sized fahaka will tolerate tankmates, would a young (4in or less) deal with tankmates that are his size or larger, at least until he matures?

He will be an extremely annoying and possibly dangerous fin-nipper.

thats about what I figured...I wish I had thought of a fahaka before I started stocking the tank a month ago. :/ Beautiful puffers, would not have minding my big tank beinga one fish only tank for one of them.

I have 2 tinfoil barbs, a sliver dollar, red tailed shark, 1 paradise fish, siemese algea eater and one royal blue pleco in with my fahaka. Its been that way for a couple months with no problems.
you have to give it a shot and see what get but don't put a $50 fish in with him right away.

Do you have a pic of the Royal Blue? Hard to believe the Paradise will last.

Although it has been done, Fahaka + Tankmates = Dead Fish in most cases. The only good thing about him being small is that it takes longer for him to kill something.

PP I think I got a relative to your fahaka! Every fish I have put in there is fine. The paradise fish was pretty smart he just hung out in the plants for the first week and now he is out and about. No pics of the plec he just hides in the plastic stump i have in there. When I come around the tank he is out but he sees me and goes to hide. He doesn't like me at all.
I just wish the siemese algea eaters would start to clean the plant leaves like they are supposed to. They are babies right now and they just kinda hang out on the bottom.

I keep a 6 inch fahaka in a live planted aquarium with an assortment of fish: 9 Cardinal tetras 1 RT shark 2 Giant Danios and 1 Green Spot Phantom Pleco. I just make sure he gets a fairly large crayfish about half his size at the same time of day every other day. He has only managed to catch three cardinals. Once my puffer gets bigger I'm going to have to move him out for sure but for the past 4 months its been pretty smooth (keeping em crossed). Highly recommend fish of the smaller faster variety, as my fahaka likes to circle his slow moving prey. My pleco does hide the majority of the time out of view except for when he chills under my hygrophila kompakt which provides great cover but allows for you to see him.
