Mr. Fattykins (GSP) - July 2004 to Sept. 21 2008

He died after 9 days without electricity. We are supposed to have power back today and he had just had a 75% water change on Saturday. He was getting big water changes every other day. A few hours after that, we managed to find a grocery store with working refridgeration and got him some oysters which all the fish ate happily. Mr. Fattykins hadn't eaten in 4 or 5 days since he refused krill. I'm so upset. He survived a 3 day trip in winter from NJ to TX two years ago and wasn't able to make it through this. He was the favorite.

He used to always crave attention and he loved playing in the bubbles from the bubble wand and having them tickle his belly. When he wasn't doing that, he was hunting for food and chewing up crushed coral as if it was chewing gum.

Mishe Mishe, Chunkypuff (GSPs), and Ittypuff (F8) are all still doing ok.

So sorry to hear that.

So sorry for your loss. It reminds me to go buy some battery powered air pumps before winter. Where I live in the northeast we can get ice storms that knock power out for up to 3 days.

Oh my gosh, I'm really sorry to hear the bad news

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have hear so many people on another forum that lost all their fish, freshwater & saltwater, coral etc. Some even had the battery air pumps. It's just horrible. I was real lucky though all this, I lost a few fish but all my puffers did really good. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Just so nobody worries about the other three puffers, I have very good news. We got power back on Friday and everyone else is perfectly ok.

I surprised and happy the others made it through! For a while I was going back during my lunch break to fill plastic baggies with ice to keep the temperature below 85 in the tanks. I usually managed to keep it in the low 80s. I also tried to feed them all as little as possible, which was easy because only krill doesn't need refrigeration and they don't seem to like krill too much. I think in two weeks, they only ate four times. They were getting thin and staying dark more often. I'm sure if it had gone on another week, they would not have made it.
