What can cause saltwater ich to spread from tank to tank?

If any of the ich attaches to the equipment, fish, or objects, it will transfer over. Therefore, avoid using the same pieces of equipment (pipettes, basters, feeding dishes, pumps, filters, water, etc.) if one of your tanks might have ich.

what about feeding tongs? Ive rinsed them in freshwater before placing them in each tank.

Drastic temperature changes can also cause ich in all of your tanks. Maintaining pristine water quality, and giving a full, robust diet, can help avoid ich situations.

Nets too. I'm not sure rinsing in water would be enough.

At the pet store where I work, we dip nets in quick cure at about 100 times the recommended concentration, and store them in that mixture.

Boiling water will do just as good.
