Hello

I am searching for a Congo Puffer and would like to know, if anyone has ever seen any in the UK for sale. Has anyone ever kept any ?

I am looking for Tetraodon schoutedeni, one of the spotted Puffers.

Cheers

This species hasn't been available in the aquarium trade in over 30 years.

thats what I thought, until I spotted this website where someone seems to have photographed one in their tank. I don't speak czech, so I can't really work it out...

That's a T. nigroviridis.
They are often labelled and sold as T. schoutedeni.
Try a forum search for schoutedeni.
The real schoutedeni can be found in the aqualog puffer book and here:

Looks totally different, doesn't it?

It's definitely a green spotted puffer (tetraodon nigroviridis), the most common puffer in the trade.

yes i saw that blue ringed octopus aswell £200 for it and with equip only! to be honet that wasnt the worst bit. it was 2 years old....

bad thing there is they live 1-2 years anywy so the guy was just tryign to flog it before it died for a extortionate price. Cerapods dont travel too well anyway. Ive kept them before so have the liscence for them cuttlefish are amazing also. and you dont need a huge tank :)
