If i buy a 2" mbu puffer what growth rate can i expect him to achive in the first year in as i can really put him in my 350 gall until he is 14" or so as my fire eel will bully him.
is £55 a good price for a mbu

i was going to put him in my 100 uk gall on his own till he grows . main reason i wont pay for a big mbu is cost unless anyones has one that needs a new home?

check out the threads on mbus here they talk about the growth rate in a few of them. I think you can expect him to grow to about 8+ in that 1 year time frame.

Great article on them in our Library. Also a good one stickied in this forum.

I have 2 mbus one is LARGE 2 year old

i got a 1.5" baby last week!

expect them to grow 1" a month for first 6-8 months. id expect 8-12" in 12 month perios! my 1.5" baby has gone straight into a 6x2x2 £55 is verage price i paid £60 for mine but she has beautiful markings and is in great shape! with baby mbus watch there teeth as they can become damaged easilly when there small also look to see if the top two teeth have joined as somtimes in young specimens the top teeth inparticular can have a gap in them. if this is the case hard foods should be avoided for a month or so :)

I agree with Flashdan, 8-12 inches per year in the first two years and then I imaging it would slow down a little. Also consider they don't just get long, their girth increases greatly too ;)
