Hey Guys its been a while since ive posted but i do come regular to read the post. You my or may not remember me, almost a yr ago i rescued a close to death mbu. Well the good news is he is doing great growing a good rate , playful and attention hog. anyways i have a dilemma. Next week i gotta move just a town over so its not far but my question is taking him out his take and putting him back in. the problem is the acrylic tank the wholes that they put in the top opening aren't very big, so i just don't see a way to fit in a big enough container in there to swoop him up in.

The one idea i had was doing the teeth trimming steps i think i read about here however i cant find it. but using clove oil? to knock him out so i can lift him out the water and place him in a bucket for the drive. how safe is it? can u do the clove treatment 2 times in one day 1 to get him out and 1 to put him back in? or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no way you could use clove oil for this, he'd be dead in 10 minutes.

Is there any way you could drain the tank until it held just enough water for him, then transport him "in tank"?

thats what i was thinking but it could also spell disaster because the weight and integrity of the tank

ya theres no way i could do that, i live an upstairs apartment with really lame stairs. tanks just too big.

ill do some research on it, since i gotta order i better do it tonight. from your understanding this is pretty safe? and also can i do it 2 times in a hour or 2 time frame? once to take him out and once to put back in? this whole thing has gotten me pretty stressed. makes me want to ditch the acrylic and go to glass.

You can use Finquel to keep a fish tranqued for several hours. This is what Puffer Queen recommends for medical procedures & shipping. If you go to that link I gave you & click on More Info, there are the instructions for sedation.
