My puffers are in their new 125 gallon home. I have a Stars & Stripes Puffer, a Dog Face Puffer, and a Bird Beak Burrfish. I'll be upgrading to a 240 when the time comes. Here's the specs on the 125:

125 gallon tank
33 gallon sump
Mag 12 return pump
Euro-Reef CS180R skimmer
2 - Koralia 4 power heads
150+ lbs of live rock

Looks like a fun tank to swim in! What's holdxing all that rock together & from falling down? How come no subsrate?

Thanks! Most the rock is stacked so it is very stable. There are two pieces that are a little loose. I have to figure out how to fix that shortly. For now, they bite at the rock and it doesn't move, so I think I'm OK till they get bigger. I'll be fixing the loose pieces shortly though.

As for the no substrate, I wanted to try bare bottom. Eventhough I do weekly water changes I was always vacuuming up a lot of "stuff" from the substrate they had. We'll see how this goes. I will add substrate if it doesn't work out. I do throw in a handful of shell peices (seaflor) a couple of times a week. They usually chomp at that stuff pretty good.

The Stars & Stripes and the Dog Face really like the extra flow. They spend hours swimming in to the current. The Burrfish is a bit more lazy , unless it's feeding time...

Puffers can slam into rock pretty hard, so I hope one of those larger pieces don't fall on them! A lot of your benefitial bactetia is in the substrate & puffers like to "puff" into the sand, looking for creatures to eat. I highly recommend a sandbed for them. It will make them more comfortable not seeing reflections below them too.
