Just curios can the hospital tank be planted?

I see no reason why not, but most people keep it bare-bottom so it's easy to sterilize should the worst happen. If you didn't mind keeping the plants potted, and doing dips in something harsh and repotting if the worst should happen, I don't see it as being a problem.
