I want a dwarf puffer for my 10 gallon would that be alright? I do keep my feeders for my clownknifes in the tank along with two 1 inch long plecos...wht do you think? I think he might be eaten if i put him in with my clown knife and albino sailfin pleco in my 40 gallon? dont you think>? please any advice.

Feeders are messy, high waste-producing fish (high ammonia) & DPs would not fair well with them. GF also perfer cooler temps & puffers (as well as plecos) are tropical species. Are those dwarf plecos?

[[A little off topic, but I just wanted to point out that your clown knife will need a tank several times that size in the long run]]

First off, do NOT put any DPs with your CK. If a fish eats a DP, not only can the DP be seriously injured/killed, but even a very large fish will get hurt badly or killed by the puffer. DPs also will probably nip on or kill the feeders, so I would only keep one if you have another tank for them. Not to mention that feeders often carrry diseases and IPs.

Yes i am upgrading the ck and pleco soon...they are 7 and 8 inches right now and still have plenty of room so that gives me time to finish saving for my bigger tank. So from wht ur saying i SHOULDNt keep any puffers in my feeder tank...

Yes. They are very susceptible to ich because of their scalelessness.

Just keep it as it is--a feeder holding tank. Personally, I wouldn't feed feeders to any fish. I don't think you have long as you do, to upgrade that CK.

Yeah, what are the dimensions of your 40G? CKs aren't slow growers.

well i feed my ghost knife and gar feeders but i breed them in there own tank which i keep underpopulated and clean (its sad my cleanest tank is inhabited by guppys and shrimp that breed and are feed to my other fish) but yeah i agree with every one against store bought feeders and clown knifes in small tanks i had one at one point and had to get rid of him because he was out gowning my budget they tend to grow like a weed at the worst possible moment maybe when you move your ck you can set up his tank a a puffer tank

haha yea everything always seems to happen at the worst moment possible lol
