at my local fish store, and i was talking with one of the workers for a while about potential tankmates

he convinced me that iridescent sharks would be compatible, and only grow up to 5-6"
now that i get home and research more on these gsps and iredescents, i'm finding he was walrus me

will these fish be ok together? i got 2 gsp's and 2 iridescents in a 30 gallon tank. i know that all 4 of these fish will eventually outgrow this tank, but for now, will they be ok together?

the guy told me that the sharks would be absolutely fine in brackish water with the puffers, and that a 30 gallon would be a fine size for them at full size

Um... here is your iridescent shark:

The guy's obviously an idiot! The iridescent shark is a strictly FW fish & most of us who keep GSPs prefer keeping them in marine conditions as adults.

An adult 6" GSP requires a 30g tank for itself. 2 will need 60g. 30 is fine for 2 juvies until they grow >2", then you'll need to upgrade. How was the tank cycled & what the guy at the store tell you about cycling a tank before adding fish?

Be sure to read the GSP article in our Library.

please take those sharks back, and then find a LFS who knows what they are doing...

don't give anymore time/money to a store that is at best completely ignorant, at worse, purposely sells fish knowing they are not compatible in size or conditions to the customers tank.

what a terrible story, good luck with your gsp's. :-)
