FW or BW to start?

I've been checking with the local fish stores, and they all keep their puffers in completely freshwater. Should I keep my tank at FW until after I bring them home and just add salt with each water change, or should I start off with a low SG and acclimate them using a drip????
I'm also planning on getting some bumblebee gobies, and they are also kept in freshwater at the lfs.

Yup when you get either of those (gobies or the puffs) you will need to drip water in the tank slowly to acclimate the puff and the bacteria growing in the tank. I would not go further then .002 SG a week.

So start off with fresh water and add a little saltwater every time I do a water change until I get up to the right SG?

That's correct. As long as you donn't raise the SG more than .002/water change.

new to puffers myself and I'm in a similar situation. LFS keeps puffers in freshwater.
This thread answered the first question I was going ask on here.. thanks all.
