Im Shocked!

When i went to Poole i found a small fish shop in the centre of town which was selling Cylon Puffers as the ideal POND FISH! if the lack of salt in a pond was not enough to kill it im sure our english winter temperatures would.

The guy working there was only interested in trying to sell me fish, was not interested in anything i had to say, some ppl are soo ignorant!

gotta love those people at fish stores that know nothing and only care about getting money, not the welfare of the fish. i hope no one bought any of those puffers thinking the sign was right.

If they've got that written up anywhere (i.e. not just what some moron said to you), I'd get onto the RSPCA. I know they've got a less than ideal rep for responding to these things, but I have heard of one LFS that got a right royal b****cking and had to change their husbandry practices sharpish. The other thing you could do is report to OATA

It was on a larginsh sign on the tank saying "Puffer The ideal fish for your pond".
I will try and find out the name of it, unfortunately im not gonna be back up there for a little while as i live in cornwall!
I will see if my dad will go and find out the name of the place as he lives near there.

If you choose to report them, and your dad's willing to help, also ask if he'll take photos of the sign. With a digital camera, take a photo of the sign outside the shop (the one that names the place) and then immediately go in and take a photo of the sign about pond fish. That way the digital time stamp on the photos will make it impossible for it to be any other place but the one you're reporting.
You'd be amazed how many places would say "that's not my place" when confronted with a photo - if there's only 30 seconds or whatever between a photo naming the place and a photo of the offending sign, it's much harder to dispute....not as if you legged it down the road and took the second photo if there's only a few seconds between the two pics
