The very first puffer i had was a GSP, got him from my LFS, along with a 2 gallon eclipse system. i didnt know about puffers then what i do now, so he died in a matter of days, i was devastated and so i went back to the drawing board, joined 3 fish forums, 2 dedicated to puffer fish, realized that a GSP was not the puffer for me.

Went out and bought a 10 gallon tank, lots of plants, a over kill filter sytem, a monster test kit and 3 Dwarf puffers, and i am pleased to say that after 3 weeks, they are still living and very happily, and i have maintained the water parameters perfectly, including the temperature, which is probably the most difficult to maintain because of the 100+ weather we have been having out here in California with no air conditioning.
Im pretty proud of my self :)

Do you use some sort of air-conditioner in the tank? Don't they make something about that...?

no i have a little handheld fan with flimbsy plastic blades that uses 2 AA batteries and i kinda mocked up a bracket and put it on the side of the tank and blow it on the water during the day.

You don't have to have a chiller. Your tank water is usually the temp of your house without a heater/chiller.

Is Claremont off the 10 freeway?

I also got a new tank for my DPs. They were originally supposed to be in a 55gallon but I broke that tank and now they're in a 12GL.

Do you have a picture of your tank set up? I'm tryna get ideas for mine. I have a few plants in them for now...

I uh, I think I just got accustomed to having air conditioning. Living in, you know, New Mexico.

XP It's not nice to blame your parents

I have been there before, but its a bit of a drive, I live in the upper class claremont, off the 210Fwy. But I don't really like it there, al the fish I have gotten from there die soon afterward.... I have 2 LFS in walking distance, right across the street from each other, I like those better

oh drop me the addresses cus i drive past claremont quite often so id like to see them if you say there good, the only other one that i know of in the area that is alright is in ranch up on 19th street kinda and its pretty crappy, then again theres global aquatics down off mission, that store is amazing! you ever been there? i bought my L201 pleco from global, and just this tuesday bought a hillstream loach from jans, when there just cus i was coming up from raging waters with my GF and heading to dinner in montclaire and couldn't pass up what they had labeled as "UFO pleco" lol the thing i like about jans is they have some oddballs for pretty cheap like the black ghost knifes, elephant noses, arowanas and there coral selection is pretty good too but prices are a little high.
