I've been wanting to do this, just never got around to buying what I needed. I made a simple tunnel using pvc connectors and buried it under the gravel. Everyone knows puffers like to explore, and it's awesome watching them motorboat through this. The tunnel goes back makes a 90 degree curve, and exits between those rocks.

I haven't seen this done anywhere, that's why I'm showing it off, but I'm sure it's been thought of. Very easy to do and cool to observe, Try it!

I just put it in an hour ago so I haven't gotten much chance to observe. I bet they'll sleep in there.

That does look very cool. I saw online some have used aqua glue to cover the tube with small gravel rocks. This is one project I wanted to do eventually.

You would need some fat tube for full grown gsp's... hehe.

I have to do a partial strip down soon to remove a fixed internal filter and plumb in an external... you have just inspired me to try something similar while the tank is down...

I was thinking of doing something like that in my tank, but my tinfoils would probably knock it over

I have done something similar to that with my cichlid tank. Just to give the fry a place to hide until they are large enough to not get eaten. I don't know why I didn't think of doing it for my puffers. I actually siliconed pvc to the back of slate so that you could not see the pipe. This is a great idea you have. I just reworked my tank so I may wait a while before trying it. Great job!

Very nice, will it work with sand I wonder, since it moves every time they go exploring.

A larger pipe cut in half lengthwise is ideal for vio;et gobies. You do have to clean the sand out periodically.

I have also used mid-sized U-shapes as spawning sites for Buffalohead Cichlids in white-water tanks - one end in the strongish current, the other opening into relative calm for the fry to come out while small.

Lots of uses for PVC in and around tanks.

I've used PVC and Habitrail for my gobies and they love it. I have 6 inch diameter PVC that I cut in 1/2 and along with a 90 degree corner that I buried open side against the glass in they absolutely love it and I get to watch them.

I have a small Habitrail in one of my tanks, and the inhabitant seems to enjoy it. That underground one is really cool, though! I'm going to have to try that sometime.
