Takifugu occelatus burrowing in the sand

My Takifugu occelatus does this when he rests. It's so adorable! Sorry guys the picture is not that clear, I'll try to get better lighting and post some better ones.

How deep is the sand? They are ambush predators. They like at least 3", so they can bury up to their eyeballs & lay in wait to eviscerate their prey.

Right now it's about 1" deep in the front and 2" deep towards the back. I've seen him burrowing his head in the sand in there for a good whole...minute without moving when I changed the substrate from gravel to sand. I got scared and pulled him out of the sand but he was apparently doing fine. It's good to know that they like it at at least 3". Thanks a lot!
