I'm curious if anyone here is growing mangroves in their brackish tank. Pictures, hints and tips would be appreciated.

yeah I am. I will try to get some pictures up eventually, but there really is nothing to show except a mangrove tuber? hanging from the top with roots growing out of them

I had the chance to buy some but at the time I had no brackish tanks. They are supposedly very easy to grow although I've heard you should periodically wipe the salt off their leaves other than that they are simple. They looks like a long brown stick with a few freen thick leaves growing from the top.

But do remember that they are emerse plants, roots in the water, stems and foliage above the water. As puffers are a bit prone to jumping when startled, an open top tank is not the best way to go.

Mangroves also eat light and are not very good nitrate eaters.

I wouldn't mind one for my mudskipper tank.

I just purchased one from the lfs. I planted it in the sand part of my mudskipper tank with the top part of the plant sticking out a whole I created in the cover of the tank. They are interesting I am interested in seeing how it does. I'm hoping to sort of bonsai'ing it, I don't need a 30' tree in my room, lol. There isn't much to them, they are fairly hardy, all they need is a misting one a day, and clean the leaves with a damp cloth to remove the emitted salt on the leaves. Other than that they are used to oxygen-poor water etc. The hardest part is finding them I would have to say. I paid $15 CAN for mine and it is only 8-10 inches tall.
