How much is clove oil and where do you get it? I'd like to have some on hand just in case. I recently had a puffer die, and I knew that there was no hope and he was suffering, but I didn't have a way to painlessly euthanize him. Plus, I want some just in case I need to do a trim on the remaining puffer's teeth. Thanks!

Although I would not use it to end a fish's suffering as I believe in letting nature running it's course but I know what you mean. I don't know what is harder...to watch a fish suffer or to put one to sleep. If you do a search online you may find a better price. Finquel is expensive but probably safer to use.

I think clove oil is "safe" enough to euthanize a puffer. Just squirt a dropperfull ihnto a container with tank water, wait about 15 minutes & then freeze.

What I meant by safe was in reference to tranquilizing a puffer for teeth trimming.

I thought they were just asking about euthanizing.

Yes, I do mainly want it if I need to euthanize. I'd rather end a suffering life than watch it slowly die knowing that nothing will help. If there is a chance that it will survive, then I will continue treatment (if there is one) and/or monitor it's health. But if I know there is no hope and it is suffering, I can't just stand by and do nothing...

Thanks for the option of finquel for teeth trimming though. My puffer seems to do fine just by feeding hard, meaty, crunchy foods, but it's nice to have a safe option for trimming, just in case.
