my puffers have learned to recognize the spoon i use to feed them and will chase it from the bowl (i set it in front of their tank) all the way to the top of the tank

i dont know why but that made me laugh so hard! i think if they could have salivated they would have!

Yea my Giant GSP's and my Chelonodons have learned to recognize the container the crab meat I feed them comes in. They can see if from half way across the room. Whenever they see it they look like they are trying to swim through the glass just to get to it. Man they love that crab meat. They never want to share it. But it does fill them up rather fast... which is good for me because it makes the meat last a little longer cause it is like $6 a tub.

I am having a little trouble getting them to pop clams open on their own though. Like.. they know whats inside but refuse to deal with it unless I help them open it. Cheaters.

I've found smacking a clam or mussel with a hammer will allow just enough meat exposed to keep them chewing at it, but they have to bite a lot of shell to do it.

I've found smacking a clam or mussel with a hammer will allow just enough meat exposed to keep them chewing at it, but they have to bite a lot of shell to do it.

I have to do the same with the frozen snowcrab I feed my puffs. Otherwise they will try to eat into the peices of shell, like licking a bowl clean. It was sort of funny in a way bc the very first time one of my puffers ever did it, he got a sore making a perfect circle around his face, like a little clown.
Now I crunch the middle of a peice, say a leg section, with a pair of pliers just enough that they can get a toothy grip on it and pry it open.
