I just got home from work and i went to check on the aquarium and couldn't find the female betta. I found her dead and dry on the ground beside the tank.
Then I couldn't find Chomps, and I found him... actually he was stuck to the wall outside the tank still alive. Not the wall of the tank.... the wall of the room. I have no idea how he stuck himself to that.... but anyways....
He's back in the tank now, and we had to burp him a bit. He's swimming and he looks okay... he's resting a lot and is pretty dark bellied.
He's hanging out at the top a lot....
I just don't understand... we've never had a fish jump out... and i came home to TWO fish jumped.
Why ?
Testing water... I'll be back with results.

well idk why they would jump but amonia shouldnt be measurable at all so if your getting a reading you should do a 50+% water change until ammonia reaches 0.

Yep, something must have upset them in the water (temperature, chemistry, any perfumes near by...?). Water change is your best choice right now!

Is it possible there was a huge flash of light from a window, or something making a loud noise that caused them to jump from the startle?
Are the two fish in the same tank or something?

do you have this puffer in a community tank ....?
or did both fish jump from different tanks on the same day....?
doesn't make sense.... both fish can't be in the same tank right..?
put melafix in to help his eye, being out of water for any period of time causes alot of stress, there may be some fallout from this, so keep th water pristine to help, and dose with melafix to help heal bits...

Puffers & bettas are both known jumpers. Coulda been a coincidence. Both need covers or the water level lowered.

Another possibility could be one of the electric devices (heater, pump, etc) randomly leaking small amounts of current into the water. IME it's more common than people think.

okay they were in the same tank 75g, but now the female betta is in another tank.
yes they both jumped out of the same tank.
they even both jumped out of the same side of the tank.
but i think the betta jumped first, because she was dry and dead, but chomper was still wet and alive.
his eye looks better already today, i don't know what was up with that. poor little buddy !
but yea, we don't have a lid, so yea maybe we shouldn't fill it up as much....
now in the 75g there's Chomper, Nibbles, and 4 guppies.

so you have bettas, guppies and whatever nibbles is in 1.009 salt?
That may be why they want to jump out... get the freshwater fish back into freshwater asap....
