How many F 8's could I put into a 75gal? Looks like I'm geting the tank by next weekend and I'm trying to figure out what to put in.

I've been thinking about putting my GSP in there but I may decide to keep him in here in the bedr with me. Decisions decisions...

6 or 7 Probably even more SAP's if you could find them and tolerate dentistry.

i have 6 f8s in 400l and all are doing well so far

I was thinking around 6 but wanted to be sure since they can be aggressive, but not likely as bad as ole Harry. Monday I saw 6 or 7 at the store where I got Harry. They were all hugged up together and fairly big.
Pretty babies. Last night I was looking at pics of my Pete.

The SAPS have always been attractive to me but the thought of dentistry gives me heart palpitations. That really stinks too because they are cute.

It's untelling how long that tank will sit until I decide what I'm going to put in there. One minute it's Harry, half hr later it's F8's, then it's Chiclids, I was even on one of their forums last night And then I had the thought that I'd fill that sucker with Dwarf Puffs, then Tetras and on and on.

I'm not an impulse buyer for the most part and surely not when it comes to animals so this could take awhile. It's probably going to cost a small fortune just to plant the thing.

I can see me sitting in front of an empty tank contemplating.

I'm pretty sure though that if I don't put Harry in there I want to either stay at low brackish or go FW. I know my hubby misses all of the action that a multiple fish tank has. I kinda do too.

Will my Classic Eheim be enough for the 75gal? I have parts of a Penguin filter around here that I can probably put together as an addition if I need to. What say you, oh great Puffer master?

Thanks, and good luck on your decision making! I'm not sure on the eheim, as I've never used one.

I think a giant planted tank full of DPs would be freaking awesome!

Hey little buddy! I just keep seeing that in my head and then the next minute I see a bunch of colorful fish, like like prehaps Rosy Barbs, which I've never had before. Then again I keep seeing myself walking in the room with all these little bloated peas looing at me. I've read the DP's seem to practice puffing quiet a bit. How many DP's could I put in there? And again, I don't mean to sound ignorant but since they can be so ornery I don't want to assume that I can put as many of those as I could a bunch of peaceful fish. Ya know?

I've got to chase Paul down and see what he's says about the classic eheim and whether I'll need more filteration.

At this point the DP's are what I can't get out of my head. I spent some time looking around the DP forum last night. I noticed some of our people over there too. Are they seasonal? Am I likely running out of time to get some DP's? I saw some where I got Harry, cutests little things I about ever saw, but there's wasn't a lot. Another store that I go to didn't have any, where as a few mths ago they had a tank full.

Also a bunch of DP's would add all that activity back into a tank that hubby and I like to watch. It would probably be fun to watch their interactions. Are they scrapy kinda like Tiger Barbs? I know the DP's are meaner, but you know what I mean.

The deal on why she wants to trade tanks is that she's moving from her parents to an apt and for the 75gal the apts demand she get insurance. I guess she can have the 30gal though. Her fish, cichlids, are crammed in a 10gal right now and she's desperate. She said she doesn't even care if my tank is scratched all to heck, she wants it. She'll love my tank.

So does that sound legit to you? But like one of you said, if her tank leaks I can just reseal.

Btw, I have never seen any of my DP fully puff. The puffing they do all the time in groups is posturing, where they inflate there belies to look larger and more intimidating, often raising their crest and keel at the same time and swimming sideways at the rival fish, and sometimes doing so with their head or their tail pointed upwards. It's really funny.

Oh Nick that sounds wonderful! My husband will love that! Of course I will too, but he really misses an active tank and as I think I said before, he loved watching the barbs argue. I think it's a guy thing. I swear he acted like an excited kid when he saw Harry bite a shrimp in half.

Gosh, I'm getting more and more excited about having DP's. I love their little faces but I've never had the delight of seeing any of them puff in the least bit.
