My Puffer

So i finally made the plunge into Brackish. Ive been debating on it for a while. All my FW fish i had went to great homes, and i obtained a F-8 from someone who didnt want it anymore. It lived the first part of its life(a while from what im told) in a 5gallon tank, and was moved into my 55gal with my Violet Goby, and 2 celebes halfbeaks.
He seems to be happy as pie, and is eating very well on Frozen whole krill, and the odd shrimp pellet.
Here is a couple quick shots of him.
He is severley undergrown from what i can see. Only about 1" - 1 1/2" in length at approz 1 - 1 1/2 years old.

Very nice looking coloration on that puffer, but he looks half starved. It could be due to internal parasites, or due to improper diet.
Krill is very fatty and should only be fed as a occasional treat (if at all, puffers tend to get addicted to it). There are many other foods such as snails, muscles, mysis shrimp, blood worms, earth worms (from a safe source) that would be much better for your puffers. Keep in mind that it's best to give them a widely varied diet.
There are some great articles on feeding as well as identifying and treating internal parsites in our library that you can check out. I treat all my new puffers with metronidazol (I soak their food in it) as a precaution.

Yeah ive fed him blood worms, i wont feed him earth worms from around here, Im also going to be breeding shrimp and snails for him. And he's been taking shrimp pellets. I will probably drop an algae wafer in to see if hell nibble on that as well.

I dunno about you guys but I want a FTS, I'm always curious as to how people aquascape the brackish tanks.

I buy earthworms by the dozen from my LFS, put them in the fridge and they keep for months.

Got a couple new shots today..Fed the tank a treat of whole shelled(i took the shell off) frozen at sea shrimp. The HB's and puffer love it..attacked it as soon as i put it in tank.
