Hello,

i read ramshorn snails are the best to feed your puffers, now my LFS only had Apple Snails so i bought some of those to breed. (A big Male and Female and setup a little bowl for them).. next to the big ones i bought 3 little ones to test if my puffer would eat them.

But coming home they still seem a big large

They are about 1cm i think, and my puffer is 3 - 4 cm.. a Dwarf Puffer (Red Eyed, Red Tailed)

Do you think he is able to eat these or will he only take the very little baby's?

Apple Snail:

I often feed large snails to my puffers. Just crack the shell a little bit by squeezing it with your fingers or pair of pliers and the puffer will do the rest of the work.

you're better off getting the free pond snails that most LFS will give away because they are pests. I believe your puffer is a Carinotetraodon irrubesco for future reference

Yup, the smaller species love these little pond snails. You can also find them on Aquabid.com.

a handy tip.........

take an empty apple snail shell, fill it with shredded prawn / shrimp / worm, crack slightly
place in tank, stand back and watch your puff investigate then attack, then eat ! it works believe
me. this is the way I get mine to sort out dentistry. I stuff smaller shells for the dp's.

That's a pretty cool idea, I never would have thought to do something like that!
