hello, i'm new..I have a gsp since a couple of day..it seemed to be alright until I saw this thing coming out little by little from his gill:


I have no idea of what it could be.

he's all alone in a 40 litres tank.
He ate only a little shrimp in two days.
I hope you can help me..sorry for my poor english.

That looks like it might be inflamed damaged gill tissue, but it's hard to tell from those pictures. Puffers can be hard to get good shots of. Many things can cause irritated gills, including ammonia - is your tank showing any? How was the tank cycled, and how long has it been running for? I didn't see a report on that in your overview. How large is he? These are fish that require brackish conditions, a mixture of sea water and fresh, if he his more than about an inch and a half long, brackish water will be needed for his long term health. Hello, it looks like gill damage to me also. how is his behavior and coloring?

Where are you from?

he's of a brilliant yellow, and his belly is white..his eyes are of a deep blue.
Sometimes he moves only one of the lateral fins and keep the other fixed to his body.
yesterday he stopped to move both and was on the bottom coiled up..then the man who sold me the puffer told me to put three or four spoons of salt in the water and the fish started to swim quite normally again.
Then he started to rub himself against everything.
according to some articles I read he seems to have worms or parasites, but I'm not sure.
I know pictures are bad and i cant take better ones
I kept the acquarium empty for two weeks before introducing the puffer,as the shopper told me I put in the water everyday the bioactivator(when the acquarium was empty) and when I change the water I put the Acqua-vit.
I'm from rome.

Look at the Internal Parsite article in our Library & see if you can get one of those meds for him. You might have to ask a vet. If you add salt to his water, be sure it's marine salt & use a hydrometer to measure it.
