snail/pleco cleaning tank??

I am fairly new to the puffer world and have read as much as I can about keeping the little guys. I only have one small GSP for now. Just like everyone else I have run into the typical problems of finding and keeping snails and hand cleaning tank algae. I have read a few posts on raising snails and before I get myself into hot water with my wife for bringing home another tank I wanted to check and see if this idea is even feasable.
Has anyone considered or tried setting up a snail/pleco tank with a duplicate set of tank decorations. This way rather than have to hand scrub all the plants, just simply moving the dirty ones from the puffer tank into the snail tank for a cleaning when I do water changes??
Do you think it is possible/feasable to set up say a 10g. tank with maybe a pleco and a ton of snails. To keep tank decorations cleaned naturally and provide a breading ground for future food??
Just wondering??
Thanks.
