If it's for GSP's, you can just get the SG up to 1.017 or higher over a month or two and the LR will acclimate that far fine, I had LR starting at about that SG with no ammonia or nitrite spike from a dieoff.

its possible but you have to be careful my man. anything that is cross-moved from sea to bracish or fresh to sea is always a risk. but this one isnt so bad. worst problem would be the live rock spikes its amonias and nitrates. you would need to watch the procress in the water and test the water continually. no fish in the tank. gradually getting the water to its point and getting the rock to its point. its tough cause your setting up a tank while setting up your rock.


ive never done both at the same time before. its just a very gradual patient process

If you want most of the stuff on the rock to stay alive then I would not go any lower than 1.017. Even still, I would acclimate it over a period of at least a week.

Sure, you can do it, but it won't be "live" rock anymore
