Shakespeare farts argonite sand

Does anyone else have a puffer that does this? Since he's been in an upgraded tank with argonite sand substrate, Shakespeare bites at it, and apparently swallows some, because now and then, especially when he's excitedly begging for food, he'll fart a little burst of it out, and it falls like snow. Odd puffer.

Kaiser eats aragonite but I have never seen him expel it from hid hind end. It would be awesome if you managed to catch a video of this one day. :D

My Arothron does that quite often Nick! It seems that when he eats mollusc's he ingests sand as well. I often wonder if it helps there digestion?

LoL! To funny! Picture Plz :) hehe...

I often wondered if fish digesting rock or sand helps their digestive tract like it does birds. I kind of doubt it because I have not read anything about it. Glad it apparently does not hurt them.

If you'd seen the size of my Sabahensis backside you would realise why it goes through him very easily

Glad everybody is enjoying Shakespeare's stony flatulence. I'm watching him take bites of sand right now, I suppose he's hoping to find interesting eadible bits in it, but apparently he swallows more than it looks like while he's doing it, because he usually lets go a pretty good shower of flakes when he rips one. I'm actually very glad he's gotten so into the sand, he used to pace quite a bit and now he usually checks the sand for food when he's bored instead.

I'm really trying to get a picture, but it's difficult, I would have to get the photo taken immediately after he blows up the spot to actually catch the shower of sand. Maybe I'll take a pic of the plant he likes to swim over when begging for food, it's got a healthy dusting of fart sand.

I don't know if it's because he is doing it or if it is the way that you are describing it but I am laughing so hard that I am almost in tears. :roflmfao:

Has anyone ever died from laughing? If this keeps up you will have to explain my death to my family! :D

Btw: If you could get a video, you could send it to "Pets & People funniest videos". :D
You could hit the jackpot! Just think how much puffer food you would be able to buy with all that money!
