Hi All!!

Here is the new addition to my family of fishes...
Hammie the Tetraodon Baileyi.
Saw it at a LFS (CF) about a 3 weeks ago while shopping around for Puffers with Creampuff. It was love at first sight (with the fish not Creampuff...). They had 2 in the shop then. Went home, thought about it, and decided to place a reservation for one of them 1 week later. Problem was I was leaving for Perth for one week and had to collect it only when I returned... Ohhh the anticipation...

Was informed by the shop assistant, Azmi, that the supplier brought in a female specimen along with the 2 males he had in the shop (I bought the last one)... Azmi said that the supplier sexed the Puffs by determining if they had Ciri growth on their bodies... Ciri = Male, No Ciri = Female (shrug). Took it with a pinch of salt, peper and vinegar.

After so much talk, I guess I should just show the pictures.
So here he is...

Yeah according to the owner, he puffed cos he saw his reflection. They're soooo cute. Unfortunately, they're a tat bit too expensive for my pocket.

How much is this puffer at CF? I wanna get another one.

I think.. sPuff got it at S$65. You better hurry. If I didn't remember wrongly, the original quote was S$90 though.

Mandycat, what state are you in? Just curious as to what state is getting these.

I am in Wisconsin. But beleive me, it wasnt that easy. I work in a fish store, and it was by chance that I knew the right person at the right time. They are coming from overseas, sent out, repacked, sent out, and there will be a heafty shipping fee, and a hefty price. Not as hefty as customers who will have to pay full price. I just have to pay shipping and cost. Which is still VERY expensive. I dont mind, though. It just money, right? Wink, wink.

Hey, maybe you then can start a quarantine and star importing hard to find puffs from other countries and sell them direct to puff keepers around the US! Well, try to ship to the eastcoast first (**tries to get first dibbs**)

I got mine in....Er...three... One is going back in the morning, way too mean. Looks just like Hammie.

Ok, I am totally laughing because now two need to go back.

I am keeping the orangey pink one, taking back the small furry one, and the big pretty one.


Let me know if anyone here is interested in the other 2.

P.S. These puffers hate each other. No actual bites took place, everyone is fine, but If I had left them alone a little longer, it would have been bad.

They are cute how they scoot around on the bottom, however. A very cool puffer. Correct me if i am wrong, But am I the only one in the US to have these guys??

nice pics of the hairy puffer.... I was thinking of getting one, but since they are expensive, I wanted to ask about personality (as subjective as the question is). Are they very interactive? Do they hide most of the time or are they inquisitive? it would be greatly appreciated if you could give some input on what they are like personality-wise.

actually, i did do a search for 'baileyi' and the remarks are scattered about this particular puffer's personality... that's why I'm asking here to see if someone could give a comprehensive statement of some sort.

oh well, perhaps, people are burned out on posting...
