When To Feed New Puffer?

I got my Puffer on Friday and was just wondering when i should give him his first food, the lfs said to wait 3 or 4 days till i feed him. I have put 3 shrimps in there for him as i thought until he eats them they may do a little good in the tank. He doesn't seem interested in them at the moment and im not sure when i should put a cockle in for him, any advice would be great.
Many Thanks
Lisa

You could see if he would eat now. There is an article in the library on all the different foods to feed puffers. I'm not sure how often you need to feed your kind of puffer though, I don't know how often lurkers get fed.

I agree. They have time to acclimate to their new home. The puffer has probably never been fed shrimp and does not know to eat it. Read the articles in the puffer library for more info. Congrats on the new puffer abnd welcome to the forum!

HI

Great news he took his first meal, always a good sign.

If you watched him, you probably realised what messy so and so's puffs are, look out for any
uneaten food and take it out as soon as he shows no more interest, meaty dinner goes off real
quick and can cause huge problems with your water quality.

Good Luck
Chris
