Anyone know what kinda snails i can feed to my 1 1/2 inch long SAP? Im having a hard time finding snails at LFS and he's a little guy wouldnt he be too small to eat a regular size snails?

breed snails and feed them the babies while they are eyeball size.

common or ramshorn snails are best

Ask your LFS person if you can have some pest snails, they will have tiny ones on the live plants and such and should be able to give you them for free, then you can feed some to your puff and breed the rest in another tank. I actually have some breeding in my puffer tank, in a floating plastic bamboo leaves plant. My GSP doesn't seem to notice the babies there. Additionally I have a 10 gallon with a few slow moving fish where I breed snails. If you go to petco / petsmart they always have pest snails.

I picked up some Ramshorns from a LFS for $0.17 each, which I thought was ridiculous until I saw another store was trying to sell their Ramshorns for $1-2.

$2.35 at my LFS. i get them to give me a few babies though if I buy something

That is ridiculous that they were charging you for those. I go to petco / petsmart for supplies & snails, and the only snails they sell are the apple/mystery snails so they give away the ramshorns & pond snails for free. They charge $1.50 - $1.95 for the apple snails.

They've got ramshorn snails at my LFS right now, and the price is really riddiculous. If I use today's exchanges rate between Norwegian currency and US dollars, I get $ 7,63 for ONE red ramshorn snail!

I know. And I most certainly didn't buy any. Luckily this is the same LFS where I hunt pond snails, and I don't have to pay anything for them!

Hey I just saw some red ramshorns for $2.95 or 2/5$ which I thought was kinda funny. Common pond snails are always free though, aren't they?

I got them for free from my LFS, they consider them pests so they don't care about getting rid of them

I've yet to experience paying for pond snails, even around here. And I am the only puffer owner in my local fish keepers club, so the other members who wants to get rid of snails, all give them to me.

I think that by "regular snails", plurmaster may be referring to apple snails sold as pets. So to Plurmaster, there are tons of small snails called common pond or ramshorn snails that infest LFS's tanks that they should be able to give you. These are the snails we are referring to, and they are easy to breed.
I just set up my snail farm in a lemonade jar, probably one gal, and some plant cuttings along with about a dozen common pond snails that are about the size of a , and I feed them old flake food that I've accumulated over the years but is now too old to feed my fish. I have a heater, which makes them breed faster, but it's not necessary to have one. You'll want to stay away from Malaysian trumpet snails which instead of looking like a regular snail, look like an ice cream cone. Your puffer may break his teeth trying to crunch those.
