HI i have a Long Face Puffer (Tetraodon Barbatus) coming on Friday and was wondering if anyone could tell me what shrimps i can feed him and where i could buy live ones. I have been struggling to find any live shrimps other than Cherry Shrimps. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Lisa

most LFS that stock cherry shrimp usually have yamato shrimp or bamboo shrimp, both of these are larger than cherry shrimp, but price can be an issue when buying them all the time to feed to puffs, so it would probably make sense to set up a little tank to breed your own once you get hold of some, I was setting up for breeding cherry shrimp, but had a bit of a problem when I got to my LFS and little redeyepuff was staring at me

Also, here is a great article on feeding http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/lib ... r-puffers/
I just feed my puffer shrimp from the grocery store, its much more meaty than just little shrimps for aquariums.

wow if it really is a barbatus you are pretty lucky, I have never seen one as far as I remember. you should be able to get hold of freshwater river shrimp which are very cheap. I can buy 10 for 50p in my LFS, unfortunately I don't have a puffer that would like to eat them though

Feeding mussels and prawns are fine but try to get hold of some snails too and breed them. Could you post some pictures of your puff please ;)
