Feb 2008 POTM winner announced!!

Thank you to all members who sent in entries for this month! The first 10 entries received are below for your voting pleasure, and entries that did not make it into this month's competition will be forwarded on to the March competition.

Green Spotted Puffer
name: Milton
size:1 1/4"
Milton lives in a 30gallon tank by himself. In the photo, he is eating mussle for the first time! (which he obviously is enjoying quite a bit)

- 1 year old
- Around 3.5-4 inches now
- Taken one night while she was in quarantine, luckily the camera was nearby!

My GSP Hootey with the late P-Diddy:
- Species: Tetraodon nigroviridis
- Names: Hootey and P-Diddy
- Size: 1.5"
- this was shortly after I got them. they were checking out that new Fiddler crab.

Species: Lactoria Fornasini
Common name: Blue Spotted Thornback Boxfish
Age: unknown
Size: ~4 inches
Brief Description: Shot in a 150 gallon tank at the Maui Ocean Center. The system that they use they get a full volume water change of filtered ocean water about every 20 minutes. This Lactoria Fornasini lives with the Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse, one Banded Shrimp, and Spotted Boxfish, Crowned Toby, baby Trumpet Fish, Goldring Bristletooth Surgeonfish, and a Raccoon Butterfly Fish. As well as Crust, Colonial Cup, Plate, Rice, and Finger Corals.

- Size: 2 cm
- Tiny baby stars and stripes puffer in my marine tank
with a dwarf fuzzy lion.

...He may look small, but when it comes to live krill,
he takes no prisoners!

- Age (if known): Around 2 years old?
- Size: 2" without tail
- Brief description: Is that...another piece of mussel???

Species: Tetraodon fluviatilis
Size: about 1 and 1/2 inches

- Species: C. travancoricus (male)
- Name of Puffer: Waldo
- Age: >3 years
- Size: 0.75"
- Brief description - He lives in a 10g all by himself. Some fake plants, some live floating plants and some java moss.

He is a baby GSP purchased from wal-mart. only 1 inch long. In this photo his nose is just breaking the surface of the water as he investigates my finger.

Puffers: Dwarf puffers - carinotetraodon travancoricus
Front puffer: named Fidji, male, about 6 months old and 7/8 inche long including tail
Puffer in the plant: named Palua, male, about 6 months and 1 1/8 inches long including tail
Picture taken in their 10G tank, shared with a female DP. As you can see it was lunch time! They are both aiming for the same snail (Palua won!).

Indeed! It was hard to choose one! I have to admit the puffer doing what they are famous for won my vote. lol, just a little clue...

this competition is tough! I like all the puffers! :lol:

just wondering, does anybody know what the yellow fish is with the boxfish?

Looks like a type of wrasse? So that would be the Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse (the tank inhabitants are listed)

Hmmm, we were talking about that.. we'll probably have a tiebreaker just between the tied photos.

BTW, the entries are supposed to be anonomous *ahem*... ;) At least until the voting is over.

LOL, except that the puffers' names are listed, and the owners have the puffer names listed in their profiles, haha!

lol, yeah I was thinking about that too! We all know mostly everyone here and their puffers names...

That number one sure is a handsome fish ;)
