Last night after i came home from work i needed to trim my 2 baby ceylong's teeth. They both around 1 1/2 inch long. I use clove oil and follow the instructions in the libary. El Guapo recover fast from the clove oil but El Compa too k awhile for him to recover and he doesnt seem to be same anymore. He's inactive right now. Just laying on the bottom of the tank and not eating. This morning when i woke up i saw him stuck on the filtrtaion tube. Thought he was dead but no he's alive just seems very weak. So i Gently move him to the side of the tank. I dont see white spots for ich. What can it be? Is it becasue he's stress over the whole process of getting his teeth trim? Have this happen to your ceylon or puffers before?Please i need help. Thx in adance

Please describe your exact teeth trimming procedure--especially the time they were under anesthesia & how many drops/cup you used.

Exactly what the puffer libary say. I added 4 drops in a bowl becasue the one i have is bigger.
Maybe they are stressed and immune system is down so they are getting ick or fungus or soimething unkonw...now i dont see some white spots but only 1 and something on his belly sticking out thats kinda like rotting skin also his fingot some blurry stuff on it..just little.
Both Ceylon just laying there on the bottom no longer active like before. Im sooo worried becasue i know is all my fault.

Please, I need more details:
Did you measure out the water in the bowl as you filled it? How long were they in the bowl & how long dit it take you to trim them? I'm surprised a Ceylon so young would even need teeth trimming, nevermind 2 of them.

Took me less then 50 sec to trim and took 1 min for 1 to recover. As for the other one took over 1 min to trim becasue he was smaller and took least 3-4 mins for this littl guy to recover and i didnt measure the bowl

How long did it take for them to fall asleep? My concern is that if you didn't do this exactly (measuring the water & adding drops accordingly), then there is a good chance of overdose, leading to possible brain damage. Clove oil is not to be fooled with & is also used as euthanasia for fish.

it took the first one awhile to fall asleep. The second one took less then 1 min. Im not just to fool around or get my ceylon killed. Seeing them with bucky teeth worries me. Only giving them proper care. The first ceylon is doing fine right now. Swimming around like nothing happen. He just got done eating frozen blood worm. The 2nd one is my main concern. He's breathing hard laying there not swimming for the entire day. Sometimes he get suck in to the tube and stay there. So i move him to the corner. Now i put in a airstone maybe that would give more oxygen. This is a lesson to me and it is the first time i did teeth trimming. Im sure from time to time people make mistakes and their puffers now have to pay for it. So im doing whatever i can to save him and make him feel better again. May god forgive me if he doesnt make it. (knock on woods)

It's a tricky procedure and is a little risky at the best of times,

there isn't really alot you can do now, find a way of sheltering him from the filter so he doesn't geting stuck in it...

Sorry you are having problems after the teeth trimming. I hope your little ceylon gets better.

Do you have a Q tank you can put him into with perhaps a sponge over the filter line so he can rest better? Keep the water perfect.

I did a search on clove oil overdose. I can not find anything to help you. I did read in my search that others puffers have experienced bad signs after the trimming and did come around after 24 hrs.

Can you go back to the container you used now & measure apporximately how much water you think you added? I would really like to know if you overdosed them. Maybe with the 1st puffer, the solutioon wasn't very well mixed into the water but after he was in there, he mixed it up for the 2nd one & he got a stronger dose. I'd put a sponge over the filter intake.
