Got more question for you expreicne puffer keepers. I help/suggestions will be appreciated!!

My Ceylon constantly swimming like crazy. They hardly stopo and rest. They like to swim against the glass like trying to go thru it. Any of you encounter this before?(they both are 1 1/2 inch long).

There's a mirror in the tank. Well is part of the tank. Is that ok for puffers?i know is bad for bettas becasue they will flare non stop thinking is another one.

Does the flow/current of the water from filter have to be slow?Currently using AZOO filter very much like whispers. I know some fishes dont like strong flow/current.

How long have you had them?

It takes awhile for puffers to settle in.

They also need a heavily decorated tank to explore in.
here is a picture of my tank so you get an idea of what heavily decorated is. His line of sight is broken and even the top of the tank is filled up. Some people have even more full tanks but I think I would loose little Milton if there were anymore plants, lol

and even in that tank Milton gets bored so I switch around the decorations every month so it seems different to him!

I would think a mirror would be stressful to any fish just because they would constantly chase their reflection.

I had them since last saturday and will be doing a 15% water change tonite.

Thats a beautiful tank you got there...looks like your ppuffer ;iving in paradise and mine is living in the ghetto via crackhouse..lol!!!!

so puffers dont mind the current or strong flow????
Whats is milton?

I don't think they mind but maybe someone else has to say something about it, I just know Milton likes riding the current, lol.

Milton is a little GSP, around 1 1/2inches, same as your little guys in a 30 gallon by himself, very spoiled wee puff!

My ceylon seems to be afraid of me. Everytime i walk close to the tank they swim away

Let's see a pic of your tank. It will usually take a while for them to get used to you. Then they'll associate you with food, and they'll be out begging all the time.

They will get used to you. Just sit there and watch them and try to look in at them often. You have to start the "bonding process" lol
Its just takes time, seeing this big object come up and look at the tank must be frightening at first, after they figure out who you are and that you have food they will love your face

Milton sees us all the time because the tank is where we spend most of our time so he had to get used to seeing a lot. I see him watching us watching tv all the time, lol

My tank is on the kitchen counter facing the lving room. So they see me all the time. Just hope one day they will realize im their friend
I find that GSP are much more interactive. When i went to the fish shop before i decide to buy the ceylon the GSP was next tank over. Soon as i walk pass by the GSPs all swam close to the tank and started staring at me and ima grown man even i found this was so cute.when i put my finger close to the glass they will swim even closer to see. I so wanted to take them home as well but i only have room for 1 kind and 2 puffers.

Hehe, yeah. Just have a nicely decorated tank with lots of hiding places, caves, and fake plants. There's a nice and cheap way you can do this. Pick up some 3-4 inches-round PVC piping, some spare gravel from your tank (as clean as possible, and completely dry), some plastic plants from the dollar store (avoid the cloth-like stuff, just in case), and pick up some good quality clear silicone from a local hardware store (I use General Electric Window & Door Silicone I, as it is quality and is safe for aquariums). Then you can put a decent layer of silicone all over the PVC pipe, and roll it around in the rocks to make sure they all stick on. After the rocks are in place, silicone the fake plants to the sides to cover up some of the obvious PVC parts, and you've got yourself a fancy cave for your puffer to explore!

I've started mine, and I even cut some parts out of the top so I can put my powerhead over top of it, which will help to prevent stagnant water from building up inside the tube (as mine is about 18 inches tall). There are usually some really neat elbow pieces and other neat styles of PVC piping that make fantastic caves. Just make sure you pick something sort of large (around the 3 or 4 inch range) so that your puffers can still fit into them when they get older!

I don't find that. Our Ceylons are really attentive and interactive. They'll sort of do their own thing when no one's around, but the second they see anyone, anywhere, they'll start doing their "feed me!!!!" routine. They'll also follow my finger around, and if we move around, they'll move to a better begging position in their tank. It took them a while to get like that, though, so maybe yours just needs some time too.

My Ceylon goes mad when I come into the room. He is always up to say Hello and do his feed me I am wasting away routine. Anyone would think I never feed the fat so and so.
