I have my 30 gallon brackish tank setup and cycled fully. The tank is half black sand and half gravel with a a gravel hill built up in the back corner. I have a few natural rock caves buil on the gravel side as well as a barnacle cluster on the sand side. I also have a few artificial plants to break things up a bit. Between The sand and gravel I have a set of three columns to break it up,and kinda keep the sand and gravel seperate. I was thinking of keeping two F8P some BBG and a Freshwater flounder or two. Does this sound like a decent setup or can anyone see any concerns right off. I haven't got the cool fish yet. I have tested the chemicals and keeping a few mollies in it to make sure it is stable for a month or two before I get the F8P. Really excited I saw f8P in a pet store a few years ago and been wanting some since then and I am finally about to get some

I don't know what Flounders are, but 2 F8s and a few BBGs should be fine for a 30 gallon, so long as you don't add too much else. You might find it'll get a bit cramped-looking once the F8s mature, but I suppose that's a matter of preference.

Freshwater flounders are a brackish fish that usually spends time buried in sand and ambush it's food. The research I have done say you can have one per 15 gallons. They also sometimes cling to the sides of the tank even though they aren't algae eaters same kind of mouth shape though. They have a flattened body shape and they toss sand ontop of themselves to hide. really neat behavior.

I wasn't aware there is such thing as a FW flounder...?

among other sites. They look pretty awesome. I would think the F8s would try and kill them though...

could i possibly try one with kirby and luigi??? or do they only live in brackish? cause it would end up being full marine...

I wouldn't try them in marine they have similar water requirments to Bumble bee Gobies so light brackish conditions

the article I read said that they travel into saltwater as an adult. they seem very cool. but you may want to get the biggest one you can find so the F8 won't see it as food.
... actaully he may also eat the F8, cause the flounders hunt at night... while your F8 will be sleeping on the floor of the tank...

so on second thought, I'm not sure it's a good idea.

oh ok thanks... maybe ill have to set up a brackish tank for one and some bumblebee gobies(i love those guys!)
