There are many people that have acclimatized mollie from fw to sw. However, I have question re: mollies in sw. I know they are naturally found in coastal salt water but do they stay there? Are there any studies of mollies in brac vs. sw vs. fw? Mine seem to thrive in sw and even reproducing in sw. But it has come to my attention that sw may not be the best for mollies.

Anybody have any scientific based literature re:mollies best environment please post.

Like most BW species, they probably travel back and fourth between SW and FW (probably for food, breeding, etc). It's not really practical to reproduce this in an aquarium, but I've heard they breed better in high end brackish / SW.

They breed better with brackish, but I doubt better in full salt than brackish, not that they MIND full salt. They're a GREAT reef starter fish that will eat your early algae blooms.
