Internal Parasites/My Mission

Ok Guys,

I located a Petsmart that's not close so I'm going on a little trip. They have a pill that disolves in the water and something to soak food in. One is Parasite guard and the guy couldn't seem to tell me what the one that's used to soak food in was. Remember I have Melafix and Pimafix in the tank right now. Pete's nose looks better. Now Nemo has it on his nose and he is curling his tail around his belly and was kinda tipping over. When he saw me he started swimming. My hopes are fading fast. Can't believe they don't have the hydrometer that I need. You'd think in a city this big that I wouldn't have to go cross country.

What I want to know from ya'll is should I just go ahead and buy both of those things? Maybe I will just in case. Can I put a dissolving tablet in there with the Mela and Pima?

I'm going to go shower and I'll check with ya'll before I leave.

Hugs, Beth

IPs need to be treated internally. You can always try to get dewormer from your vet. Meds are listed in the article in our Library & also stickied in this forum. Good luck.

I saw Droncit on the list of things to get. I'm familiar with that because of dogs. I just don't remember the post saying how to use it. I got some stuff for the IP at Petsmart. I don't know why, I was thinking it was different. Well it's that stuff that floats on the water and then falls. Those tiny little things that Pete and Nemo said "you've got to be kidding." I don't know at this point...just not sure what to do. I felt like yanking Nemo out of the tank and using a syringe, without a needle of course, to shoot some of those little pellets down his throat. Of course I resisted that frustraded urge.

Pete looked good today. I don't see the spot on his nose now. He seems really strong, and
rather mean. I think he's trying to become the tank terror. :)

To my surprise Nemo acts strong too. He seems to be a fighter. But with IP I don't see him surviving.

Thank you for your time Pufferpunk.

Hugs, Beth

One thing that might make you feel better, curled up like that is just a normal old puffer "nap". They tend to sleep like that, and often take a few seconds to straighten out and swim normally when they wake up.
