so in my attempts to get a varied diet for Porkchop, my GSP, I've bought some clams...
got them home and looked at the packaging closer and they're cooked. So are cooked
clams okay to feed or should they be raw? My ejumikated guess says that they should
be raw and i've bought the wrong thing. But I wanted to put the question out there before
feeding and causeing potential problems. Thanks for any feed back!

Hm. Are they seasoned with anything?

I'm pretty sure most the stuff that the puffer benefits from gets cooked out when.. cooked.

they aren't seasoned, but they are boiled in their own juices from the manufaturer, so says the packaging.
it also says (for human consumption) to boil them in the bag until they open all the way then to remove and open bag blah blah blah.

i wouldn't argue with you crazedpuffer, that happens with veggies for us too... makes sense to me.

IMO, I say go ahead. I don't think it would hurt. If they had funky spices in them it would be different. Let us know how it goes if you choose yes.

i will! I think I might try one for him in the morining. today is his day of the week where he doesn't get food.
when i got home, i just had this aw crap moment when i looked closer at the packaging. last time i got him some crawdads cause i thought they were frozen raw, but not only were they cooked, they were seasoned as well!
i haven't eaten them yet, but i'm sure they'll be yummy!
thanks for all the help

A little off topic: I always want to take those mussels I have for the puffer and toss them in some olive oil and throw em on a bed of pasta with some marinara...
Anyways I am sure they will enjoy them. :D

I fed Chomper (gsp) cooked shrimp, and raw shrimp, and he liked the cooked shrimp better.
he doesn't seem as interested in the raw shrimp - which surprized me !

I figured i'd post this here, cause it's called clams and I'm pretty sure Daenja will be ok with my lil story.

I gave my Hootey a clam and he got a pretty good belly on him before the evil crabs came and stole away his clam  he's seriously scared of them. so I let them eat a little before I took it out and I was gonna throw it away cause this was the second day of feeding on it. but then I thought I'll just toss it in my 55gal and see if anything wants it...

well i dropped it and the bass and sunfish both looked at it, then JD came and grabbed a bite really quick, but spat it out. so I was gonna take it out thinking that's too bad nothing likes it, but then both my rope fish came out of no where and just annihilated it! they loved it! who knew? :D
