As I've posted elsewhere I bought 4 little SAPs the other day and I've been reading as much as I can about them.

I've read that they are happy to be kept in groups and my 4 certainly seem to be quite comfortable with each other.

It's got me thinking and I was wondering if anyone keeps them in a decent size group,say 8+, and if they do,how do the fish interact with each other?

I just think they would look fabulous in a decent shoal,and it would be great to see if they interact with each other,form a hierarchy etc.

Has anyone tried this?

I appreciate they would need a decent size tank,I was thinking of a 4'x2'x2'?

8 would need around 90 USG.

Mine didn't really interact when I had 3 of them, just sort of stayed in the same general area as each other.

But they are seriously active fish, you'd have to give them plenty of room and lots of places to explore.

Also, don't forget, this is the species with the fastest growing teeth, they need regular trimmings. Are you willing to capture, drug and trim the teeth of all 8 SAP's every few months? Thats quite a bit of work, and they aren't the easiest fish to catch.
